Role of pharmacogenomics in the drug development.

Kathmandu Univ Med J (KUMJ). 2009 Apr-Jun;7(26):172-6

Authors: Suvarna BS

Individuals respond differently to drugs and sometimes the effects are unpredictable. Differences in DNA that alter the expression or function of proteins targeted by drugs can contribute significantly to the variation in the individuals responses.

Aripiprazole in schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder: A review.

Clin Ther. 2010;32 Suppl 1:S3-20

Authors: Stip E, Tourjman V

BACKGROUND: During the past decade, there has been some progress in the pharmacotherapy of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. PharmGKB summaries getting some traction

For the past year, the journal Pharmacogenetics & Genomics (PG&G) has been publishing PharmGKB Pathway summaries and compressed versions of PharmGKB Very Important Pharmacogene (VIP) summaries. When we set up this continuing arrangement, we weren’t sure if the journal readers would value this feature, and so it was experimental. However, it appears that the pathway and VIP summaries have been very popular.
